What you want to know about Puria®

It is what its name suggests – good, pure New Zealand-made mother & baby products.

But to make extra sure you feel safe about choosing our products you should know that we are a pharmaceutical company and we subject ourselves to the most rigorous test processes in keeping with the way we make all our products.

Here are some aspects of quality assurance you will be pleased to see we undertake:

  • We use research scientists to ensure that we provide the best possible nutritional value.
  • Every one of our suppliers from the packaging suppliers to the milk powder blenders is subjected to inspection by the quality assurance department of Douglas Pharmaceuticals.
  • All of our batches are coded so we know exactly when and where they originated. We also undertake random test sampling and regular supplier site visits to check on the supply chain.

Now let us tell you a little more about our company

Sir Graeme Douglas started Douglas Pharmaceuticals in 1967. It’s grown to be the largest pharmaceutical company in New Zealand. For Sir Graeme the launch of Puria® is like coming home.

He started off by launching Karicare in 1985. His personal support for the wellbeing of Kiwi kids is well evidenced in his generous sponsorship for Starship Children’s Hospital (last year he proudly handed over a full MRI suite to the hospital). He is a founding supporter of numerous sports and health facilities.

Douglas Nutrition is an affiliate of Douglas Pharmaceuticals. It is a family-owned New Zealand company that enjoys an enviable reputation here, and in countries as far and wide as Europe, Canada, Indonesia, Hong Kong, South Africa and the USA. The list is long.

Some of Douglas Pharmaceutical products have achieved FDA approval in the USA and we are expecting a few others to be recognised in the same way soon.
